Case of the week (week 11, 2021)

67-year-old patient, screening mammogram.

Mammogram shows a retroareolar lesion of unchanged appearance compared to the 2018 examination, considered at the time as a common fibro glandular tissue.

MammoScreen® highlights this abnormality in yellow.
A spot compression shows the persistence of the image.

An ultrasound is performed in this patient with a very large breast, the lesion isn’t found.
Given the discrepancy and the fact that MammmoScreen marked this case as yellow, a breast MRI was performed to besafe. The suspicious lesion with irregular contours is found with early contrast enhancement.

The lesion was very difficult to find on the second look ultrasound.
Biopsy pending.
