Case of the Week (week 45, 2023)

Screening of a 65-year-old patient in 2020

The radiologist had access to a wide history of previous examinations, the most recent being performed one year earlier. Breasts are sparse (density A).

During the mammography reading, the radiologist finds a suspicious asymmetry and possible distortion on the right breast in CC, both on 2D and on tomosynthesis, without finding a match in MLO.

The patient was recalled for further examinations, which confirmed the presence of a 10-hour mass with a corresponding hypoechoic mass likely observed on ultrasound.

Biopsy confirmed stage II invasive lobular cancer.
