Case of the week (week 29, 2023)

79-year-old patient, addressed for a mass in the left breast.

The radiologist’s attention focused on the left breast: Mammoscreen also detected a suspicious lesion on the right side.

At first glance, the ultrasound shows a non-suspicious 8 mm round image of the right breast.

The subsequent MRI found a slightly external central suspicious lesion corresponding to the lesion indicated by Mammoscreen. Here, MammoScreen helped confirm the presence of a malignant lesion on the left, but also a more subtle lesion on the right side. Both lesions were subsequently biopsied.

The biopsy found an infiltrating carcinoma of the right breast and a lobular carcinoma of the left breast.
