Case of the Week (week 35, 2024)
Screening mammography, interpreted as normal on 2D scans.
Mammoscreen was able to identify, on some tomosynthesis slices, a mass on the left breast, attributing a score of 5 to this detection. This mass was detected both in the frontal view and oblique view. This lesion was found on the directed ultrasound. It was an infiltrating lobular cancer.
This case shows the interest of AI applied to tomosynthesis in the detection of subtle cancers without obvious translation into 2D.
